The Sorrowgate
One of two of The Gates, massive bridges of dwarven construction, dating back many millennia, bridging the twin flows of the Menendara where it meets the Blue Water.
The Sorrowgate is the westernmost gate, bridging Menendara the Greater. As such, it spans over a thousand feet; truly an architectural marvel. The bridge is flat and wide, supported by columns which, according to legend, were sung into existence, and are one with the rock below, as opposed to artificial pillars driven into the earth.
On the eastern landing, a massive gatehouse straddles the bridge; the only way around it is to dare the deep, fast-moving waters of the Menendara and scale the smoothed, shear, vertical surface of the riverbank. The figures of Drogun and Annar, stone statues five hundred feet high, flank the gatehouse.
On the western landing, a matching gatehouse caps the bridge, this one encircled by the mass of Ankhar in his draconic form, of similar height to the gods of the opposite bank.
